Welcome to PakLeaders K9 Services

PakLeaders K9 Services is a small dog training and boarding business, located in Clonroche area Co. Wexford, owned and operated by Iveta Kalvane.

Iveta’s approach to dog training sits on three pillars: Trust, Respect and Clear Communication. “You need all three in place if you want to get the best out of your dog”, says Iveta. “I will tell you what I see and what the dog ‘tells’ me, and very often it is not what clients want to hear. If we can’t be honest between ourselves, then we can’t help the dog!”

Iveta has attended several dog training courses but has gained most of her knowledge and skills by learning from other trainers; attending their seminars and going directly to them for one to one mentoring. Iveta believes that learning never stops and there is always something to improve on.

Iveta fosters and trains dogs for a rescue in Co Wexford, helping dogs that have some bad habits and behaviours that potential adopters might find unappealing.

We have one simple goal – to bring out the very best in each and every dog that comes our way

Dog training

Don’t blame them… Train them!

Dog training

All our training is based on building trust and respect, and establishing clear communication between the dog and its handler. Whether you need help with your new puppy or your older dog, we will be able to provide an individually designed training program.

One-to-one at home dog training

One to one dog training is done in the comfort of your own home. The trainer will go to your home for a training session during which you will learn how to train your dog, how to live with your dog to reset the relationship that you have created and how to communicate with your dog clearly and effectively. One to one training is perfect for:

> Obedience
> Recall training
> Loose lead walking
> Unwanted behaviours
> Learning fun ways to mentally and physically stimulate your dog
> Learning how to provide a job for your dog so it has a purpose in life

Puppy training

Having a fun puppy that grows up to be a great dog can be easier than you think. Enjoy your pup by teaching them good manners early! Don’t be waiting for a puppy to “grow out of” certain unwanted behaviour. They don’t grow out of behaviours, they only grow into them. Begin this beautiful journey on the right path! Ages: 8 weeks to 4 months. Puppy training is perfect for:

> House training and crate training
> Learning to be polite
> Discussing socialisation and environmental exposure
> Introduction to basic obedience – Sit, Down, Place, Come
> Desensitisation to handling for vet and groomer visits

Dog boarding

Dogs are part of our family

Our dogs are our family members and they are treated like such when we go on holidays. We understand that dogs can’t always go with you, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have a fun filled holiday of their own.

Individual attention

At PakLeaders K9 Services, we only cater for small number of dogs. This allows us to have plenty of one to one play time and walks. We want our guests to feel like they are part of our family, so if your dog is well-behaved and trained to verbal control, he/she will get some inside the house family time as well.

Please note: we DO NOT mix dogs from different households. Please don’t ask for your dog to be let play with other dogs while under our care. There are plenty of other dog boarding facilities that can accommodate you if you wish for your dog to socialize with other dogs.

Preparing your dog for boarding

Did you know that there are things that you can do to make sure that when your dog has to go into kennels, their stay in as stress free as possible?
1. Teach your dog that it is OK to be alone for periods of time. Especially if you work from home. It is not fair on the dog if someone is with it day and night and then suddenly the dog finds itself in a strange environment all alone. If your dog suffers from separation anxiety, get help from a trainer.
2. Make sure your dog is comfortable toileting while on a lead in all weather conditions. Unfortunately dogs who are used to running free find it extremely stressful having to toilet while on a lead. If your dog is going into kennels, start taking your dog out a week in advance on a lead and only let your dog off lead once they have done their business.
3. If your dog has never been in kennels before or you are changing where you’re bringing your dog, arrange for 1 day/night trial.
4. Aim to drop off your dog in the morning or lunch time. This will allow your dog to settle in before the night comes.
5. Make sure your dog’s collar is well fitted (cannot slip over the dog’s head). Just because your dog has never slipped out of a collar before doesn’t mean it cannot happen in a new environment with a stranger handling the lead.
6. Don’t forget to inform the staff if your dog is a ‘chewer’ to make sure there are no accidents of the dog ingesting bedding or toys.

Terms and conditions

Please read the following boarding policies and protocols carefully, you will be asked to sign a form at the time of drop-off that you have read and agree to these T&Cs.

Happy dogs

I can’t praise Iveta enough her advice is straight forward easy to follow and manageable she has given me hope that our dog can become part of our home again and I can see a difference in the dog from day one, I’m confident if we put in the time and effort and take all her knowledge on board we can succeed.

A huge thank you to Iveta for helping us out with our 4 month old puppy, we learned so much from her and our puppy is already being more obedient. She helped us with all of our queries regarding diet and behaviour. Definitely worth the very reasonable fee and would highly recommend.

I can not recommend Iveta enough. After one training session I have so much hope going forward with my German Shepard. She has given me the tools and knowledge I need to work with him to make him a more confident dog. Instead of hiding away from situations I’m ready to go into them head on. If you are struggling with training PakLeaders should be the first place you go.

I would highly recommend Iveta to anyone who is looking to train their dog. Her knowledge and understanding of dog behaviour is outstanding. We had a home session with Iveta for our three dogs which is amazing value for money. She took the time with each dog and provided us with so much insight into all of their behaviours. She has provided us with the tools to train our dogs and how to get the very best out of them. Already after just one session the difference is phenomenal.
